89-Year-Old Woman Has Knitted 450 Blankets For Shelter Dogs, And It’s Adorable
There are thousands of dogs in shelters waiting to be adopted. And while they patiently wait for a home forever that they absolutely deserve, puppies rely on staff and volunteers to look after them and keep them company. It is the most rewarding work a dog friend can do and they are certainly doing their best to love and care for these animals.
One particular lady, however, stood out from the crowd of kind-hearted helpers. 89-year-old Maisie Green from the UK has knitted over 450 blankets to keep the dogs warm at the shelter during the cold nights they spend in the kennel.
A few years ago a dog shelter in England called Dogs Trust launched an initiative asking people to knit dog coats.
“Sophisticated with needles or practical with a crochet hook? We call on all smart guys to contribute homemade dog coats to our Hope Project Christmas baskets,” the shelter wrote on their Facebook page.
This initiative has helped homeless dog owners keep their four-legged friends warm in the cold of winter.
The idea of helping animals by knitting was very attractive to Green, after all she loves knitting and is very good at it, so why not share this amazing ability with the needy?
