Shelters often have to make difficult decisions in the lives of sick and homeless dogs because they do not have the resources to cover their medical costs. Gregory, a 2-year-old Beagle, had a similar fate over his head when he was diagnosed with heartworm.
Workers in Franklin County Dog Shelter in Ohio were heartbroken. They had no choice but to put patient Gregory on the list of victims. But the lively dog was filled with such a spark of life that they decided to make one last call for help. They shared Gregory’s story with his deadline for euthanasia on social media, and soon, animal lover Joe Kirk came forward to save Gregory!
Joe leads a rescue organization with his wife and is often looking for dogs in need who have lost all hope. As soon as he saw Gregory, Joe knew he had to save that little baby with the starry eyes! So he immediately set off to bring Gregory home in two hours.
Joe usually transports his rescues in crates. But since Gregory had been in a cage for so long, Joe let him lie in the back of his car. Halfway through his journey to freedom, Gregory finally realized that he had escaped from the list of victims and was safe. In a moment of sweetness, the grateful puppy reaches out his hand to Joe and snuggles up to him to express his love!
Joe was so overwhelmed that he decided to take pictures of Gregory’s kind gesture and post them on his page. The photos quickly became viral and people lined up to adopt this happy darling. Currently, Gregory is still receiving his treatments and will move to his home forever once he has obtained his medical certificate. Tell him his story and help him find a home!
