All dogs are beautiful in their own way, but some have a very unique look that makes them, let’s say, not classically beautiful.
It’s the interior that counts, but unfortunately, many of these dogs often find themselves without a home. The reality is that upon adoption, most people gravitate towards the animals they find the cutest, passing over many of the older, “ugly” dogs.
Finding a home for them can be difficult… but a good-hearted dog hopes that people will see him for what he really is.
When a litter of five puppies was born to a stray dog in Romania, four of them were born with the same facial disfigurement, which caused their muzzles to sag to the side, exposing their teeth. The family caring for them was advised by veterinarians to have them euthanized… but the family refused, and fortunately the puppies, despite their disfigurement, were happy and healthy.
“They are happy, healthy, playful and loving puppies,” wrote Safe Rescue for Dogs, the dog charity, on Facebook. “They can eat and drink independently.”
But while the other puppies are being adopted, the shelter is still struggling to find a home for nine-month-old Bethany:
Bethany has been particularly affected by the deformed genes, and has struggled to overcome the stigma of her falling face.
