Since the dawn of time, humans and animals have had a close relationship. Since the time of the cave dwellers and hunter-gatherers, we have interacted with animals not only for our sustenance, but also to enrich our lives through the support and assistance they offer us. Beyond the help they provide in our hunts, animals have become a means of finding companionship and comfort. In the modern arena, where hunting for food is now replaced by a trip to the grocery store, the animals we choose to have in our lives are often there as pets.
These beloved additions to our lives can be like another member of our family, many of us having grown up with a pet for years, and feeling a deep sense of attachment to them.
